Garbage service is set up when you become a city water customer. The charge for monthly garbage is $16.75 per household within city limits and will be billed on your monthly water/sewer bill. Out of City residents are charged $21.78.
Commercial rates includes industrial, institutional, multi-family, and church customers. Rates to be negotiated with the municipal contractor, subject to approval of the municipality.
Additional charges: For other types of containers and services, rates will be negotiated with the municipal contractor, subject to approval of the municipality.
Collection days for garbage are Wednesdays. Please have all garbage out at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Garbage will be picked up between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Trash bins and bags must be loaded so as to weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds per bag or can.
Brush Curbside pickup is the first Monday of every month. Charges are $25.00 per load.
If the holiday falls on your service day, garbage will be collected the following day. Holidays are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Acceptable Items for collection are as follows:
Garbage: Refuse or vegetable matter (as from a kitchen or food processing facility), sacks, clothes, and any other household waste.
Brush and Yard Waste: I.E.S.I. will collect all brush tied up and bundled no larger than (48) inches long. Collection of brush is limited to the amount generated by the individual resident. Grass clippings, leaves, weeds, or debris must be contained in a bag and can not exceed the 50 pound weight limit.
Bulky Waste: Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners with a certification report that the CFC’s have been removed by a certified technician, washing machines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, stoves, and other household appliances and furnishings generated by the resident.
Items Not Acceptable for collection
Asbestos, construction and demolition debris, tires, gasoline and oil based products such as used car parts, paint, contaminated soils, MSW incinerator ash, sewage treatment sludge, industrial sludge, pathological waste, medical waste, pollution control waste, and any other product classified or labeled as hazardous.
