Lake Bridgeport Facts and Figures

Location
Lake Bridgeport is located some 45 miles northwest of the City of Ft. Worth and about 5 miles west of the City of Bridgeport, in Wise County. This lake is in the Trinity River Basin-North Central portion of the State.

River
The lake is on the West fork of the Trinity River.

Construction
The lake was constructed by the Tarrant County Water Control and Improvement District Number One between 1929 and 1931.

The dam was completed and the reservoir placed in service in December, 1931. Impounded: 1932, renovated in 1972 with a new spillway.

Purpose
A Multi-purpose lake, erected for Water Conservation and Flood Control purposes.

Owner
The Lake is owned, operated and maintained by the Tarrant County Water Control and Improvement District Number One.

Recreation
Open to the General Public from a number of Public and Private Use Areas – Boating, sailing, water skiing, skin diving, and swimming. Numerous Boat Launching sites are available. Fishing – Crappie, Black, White and Sand Bass, Perch and Channel Cat are among the common catches.
