I would like to thank you for visiting our website. We are very proud of our community and we strive to deliver the very best services to our citizens. The City of Runaway Bay offers city parks that include walking trails, a baseball field, playgrounds, and basketball courts. Our City Pool operates during the summer months and we welcome our citizens to schedule pool parties. Enjoy water aerobics and swimming lessons throughout the summer. Our Civic Center is available year-round for aerobics, family reunions and other meetings.
The City of Runaway Bay holds its annual 4th Fest activities on July 4th every year. The event is financed by donations and City support. Members of The Greater Runaway Bay Alliance hold fundraisers and collect donations to put on the best fireworks show in Wise County. Other activities, such as a charity golf tournament, a golf cart parade, live entertainment, booths, bingo, cake walks, and helicopter displays are present during the celebration of our Nation's birthday.
The City of Runaway Bay owns and operates 8 marinas located on beautiful Lake Bridgeport. The City also operates a parking facility to store RVs, boats, trailers, vehicles, and other equipment. Slip rentals and parking spaces are available by contacting City Hall. The City has an excellent Department of Public Safety that conducts police, fire, and first responders operations for our citizens.
Runaway Bay is a special place due to the people living here. As you look through our website, notice the people who volunteer their time to make our City special. Volunteers staff our City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Cemetery Commission, Economic Development Corporation, Volunteer Fire Department, reserve Police Officers, and the Greater Runaway Bay Alliance. Citizens getting involved and volunteering their time to make a difference in our community.
If you would like to report a problem to the City, you may place a service order to our City Maintenance Department by filling out the form on the utility information page. Service order requests will be entered into our maintenance soft ware program, issued a service number and assigned to one of our staff for resolution. Our Director of Public Works is Roger Gober. City Secretary (Oneta Berghofer)
The City Secretary is responsible for managing and posting city council agendas, managing the budget process, the election process, maintaining our municipal codes, and City ordinances. The City Secretary functions as Treasurer for the City of Runaway Bay and the Volunteer Fire Department.

Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission is charged with making recommendations on development issues that include plats, re-plats, and zoning issues. To be included on the agenda of the Planning and Zoning Commission, it is necessary that all plans be submitted by noon on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Runaway Bay began in the mid to late 60s as a resort then became incorporated in 1979. The City of Runaway Bay is a Type A General Law Municipality that operates under the general statutes of the State of Texas. Using a Council/Mayor form of government the mission is to meet its resident needs with the highest quality of service.
City government consists of a Mayor and five Council Members that are elected to serve two-year terms. All boards and commissions are appointed by the City Council.
