Pet Fees
City Ordinance No. 383 requires that all animals be registered and vaccinated for rabies every 3 years. The cost is $10.00 for this registration for each animal. Highlights of the Animal Control Ordinance are as follows:
- Defines “OWNER” to include anyone possessing, harboring, keeping or sheltering an animal.
- Only dogs, cats, horses and ferrets may be registered as pets, and no more than 4 animals of the same species .
- Birds are permitted only inside of the main residence.
- Dangerous wild animals, such as large carnivores, and snakes are not permitted.
- Owners of “dangerous dogs” must show proof of liability insurance coverage of at least $100,000.
- Establishes sanitary requirements for dogs, cats and horses.
- Prohibits owners from along dogs to run at large.
- Requires pets wear city registration tag at all times.
- Establishes penalties up to $2,000 per day for non-compliance.
Please come to City Hall and register your pet. Be sure to bring a current vaccination record.
